In times like these, it also helps to know that you can control your own destiny, that you can guide your own ship, that you can drive the car into your own bright future. Therefore, I have decided purchase real estate with my IRA. Not REITS, not some type of real estate mutual fund, but real, live, "poke-your-finger-in-the-dirt" real estate. There are several companies that can assist in setting up the paperwork. The one that I chose provides not only the necessary paperwork but also a live person to answer my questions during (and even sometimes outside of) regular business hours. They "held my hand" during a process I almost (but didn't quite) understand, and now I have checkbook control over my retirement future!!
I am now in the process of shopping for rental property that fits my specifications, and will update you as I progress.
